General Studio Policy

Welcome to Mining City Dance Company! To create a positive, safe, and enjoyable environment for our students, families, and staff, we ask that all participants follow the policies outlined below.
1. Attendance Policy
• Class Attendance: Regular attendance is vital to progress and group choreography. Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes.
• Tardiness: Students arriving more than 10 minutes late may be asked to observe the class to avoid disruption.
• Make-Up Classes: Missed classes may be made up within 1 month, subject to availability. Please contact us to arrange make-up classes.
• Absence Notification: If your child will be absent, please notify the studio in advance.
2. Dress Code
To maintain professionalism and ensure safety, students must adhere to the following dress code:
• Ballet: Leotard (solid color), pink tights, ballet shoes, hair in a neat bun.
• Jazz/Lyrical/Contemporary: Form-fitting dancewear (e.g., leotard, leggings, dance shorts), appropriate footwear.
• Hip-Hop: Comfortable, loose-fitting attire (no jeans) and clean sneakers designated for indoor use only.
• Tap: Comfortable clothing and tap shoes.
Note: Jewelry is not allowed during classes (except small stud earrings). Hair must ALWAYS be secured away from the face.
3. Studio Conduct
• Students, parents, and guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner at all times.
• Negative behavior, such as bullying, disrespect, or inappropriate language, will NOT be tolerated.
• Parents and guardians must supervise siblings and young children in the waiting area to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
4. Food, Water, and Gum Policy
• Food, Water, and Gum: No food, gum, or beverages other than water are allowed in the studio classrooms at any time. This policy helps maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Students are encouraged to bring water bottles and leave them in designated areas outside the studio space.
5. Class Observation
• Parents are welcome to observe classes during designated observation weeks.
• Outside of observation weeks, we ask that parents remain in the waiting area to minimize distractions to the dancers and instructors.
6. Health and Safety
• Illness: Students showing signs of illness (fever, vomiting, contagious symptoms) should not attend class. A student must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning.
• Injuries: Students with injuries should notify the instructor before class begins. If needed, a modified activity plan will be provided.
• Studio Cleanliness: Students must keep the studio tidy, including picking up personal belongings and trash.
7. Photography and Video Usage
• By enrolling at Mining City Dance Co., you grant the studio permission to photograph and/or video students during classes, performances, and studio events.
• All photography and video content taken by the studio is the sole property of Mining City Dance Co. and may be used for advertising, marketing, and promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, websites, flyers, and brochures.
• If you have concerns regarding this policy, please contact the studio office in writing prior to enrollment.
8. Communication
• Studio updates and important information will be communicated via email and studio announcements. Please ensure your contact information is up to date.
• Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates, events, and reminders.
9. Tuition and Fees
All tuition, costume, and competition fee policies are outlined in our Payment Policy. Payments are due on time to avoid late fees or service interruptions.
10. Recital and Performances
• Participation in recitals and performances is highly encouraged. Students must commit to attending rehearsals if they choose to perform.
• Costume fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the stated deadline.
• Detailed performance schedules will be provided well in advance.
11. Drop-Off and Pick-Up
• Students should arrive 5-10 minutes before class and be picked up promptly at the end of their class.
• The studio is not responsible for supervising students outside of class times.
• For safety, students must wait inside the studio until a parent or guardian arrives.
12. Studio Closures
• In the event of severe weather, holidays, or emergencies, closures will be communicated via email, social media, and studio announcements.
• Make-up classes will be offered where possible for weather-related closures.
13. Personal Belongings
• The studio is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
• Students should label all shoes, dance-wear, and water bottles with their names.
14. Code of Conduct for Parents
We value a collaborative relationship with parents. We ask that parents:
• Support their child’s dance education with positive reinforcement.
• Respect the decisions and expertise of instructors.
• Address concerns with studio staff in a calm and professional manner.
15. Policy Acknowledgment
By enrolling at Mining City Dance Co., you agree to abide by the above policies. Failure to follow these policies may result in suspension or dismissal from classes.

Payment Policy

At Mining City Dance Co., we strive to provide a smooth and enjoyable experience for all our students and families. This Payment Policy outlines the terms and conditions for tuition, fees, and payment procedures. By enrolling in classes or programs, you agree to the following terms.
1. Payment Methods
We accept the following payment methods:
• Credit/Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express)
• Digital Payments (Venmo)
• Checks (payable to Mining City Dance Company)
• Cash (in-person payments only)
2. Tuition Payment Terms
• Payment Schedule: Tuition is due monthly (posted 1st of each month) and must be paid by the 5th of each month.
• Registration Fee: A non-refundable registration fee of $10 is required at the time of enrollment.
• Late Payments: Payments received after the due date will incur a late fee of $25
3. Costume Fees
• Costume Fees: Costumes for performances and/or competitions are charged separately from tuition. Families will be notified of costume fees at least 4 weeks in advance. Payment for costumes must be made by the specified due date. (1/2 of total costumes must be paid by October 1st and the remaining balance is due October 15th)
• Non-Refundable: All costume fees are non-refundable once orders have been placed.
4. Competition Fees
• Competition Entry Fees: Fees for competition entry, including group and solo routines, will be communicated in advance. Payments must be made by the specified due date to secure participation.
• Additional Costs: Additional costs, such as travel, lodging, or extra rehearsals, are the responsibility of the participant.
• Late Payments: Late payments for competition fees may result in the student being unable to participate in the event.
5. Refunds and Credits
• Refund Policy: Tuition and registration fees are non-refundable. Exceptions may be made in cases of serious illness or injury at the discretion of studio management.
• Class Cancellations: If the studio cancels a class due to unforeseen circumstances, a make-up class or credit will be offered.
• Missed Classes: No refunds or credits will be issued for missed classes. Make-up classes may be scheduled, subject to availability.
6. Discounts
• Family Discount: All classes are discounted after the first enrolled class of $45.
• Full Payment Discount: Receive a 5% discount when paying for a full term or semester in advance.
7. Recurring Payments
For your convenience, we offer an automatic payment option. By enrolling in auto-pay, tuition will be charged to your selected payment method on the 1st of each month. You can opt into or out of auto-pay by contacting the studio office.
Authorization Statement: By providing your payment information, you authorize Mining City Dance Company to charge your card/account for all tuition, fees, costume costs, and competition-related expenses as outlined in this policy.
8. Returned Checks
A $35 fee will apply for any returned checks due to insufficient funds. Future payments will need to be made via credit card or cash.
9. Payment Security
We prioritize your security and ensure all payments are processed through encrypted and secure systems. We follow all PCI/DSS outlined.
10. Changes to Payment Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Payment Policy at any time. Changes will be communicated via email and updated on our website.

Release of Liability and Waiver Agreement
Mining City Dance Company
Effective Date: December 16th, 2024
By signing this Release of Liability and Waiver Agreement, I acknowledge that I have voluntarily chosen to participate, or allow my child/ward to participate, in dance classes, rehearsals, performances, and/or other activities offered by Mining City Dance Company ("Mining City Dance Co.", "MCDC").
1. Assumption of Risk
I understand that participation in dance and related physical activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
• Injuries such as sprains, strains, fractures, or concussions.
• Injuries resulting from slips, trips, or falls.
• Injuries caused by overexertion, improper technique, or equipment use.
I fully assume all risks, known or unknown, associated with participation in activities at Mining City Dance Co.
2. Release of Liability
In consideration for participating in the programs and activities of Mining City Dance Co., I hereby release, waive, and discharge the following parties from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action:
• Mining City Dance Co., its owners, directors, instructors, employees, and volunteers.
• The owners of the facility or premises where activities are held.
This release applies to any injuries, damages, or losses incurred during participation in any dance classes, rehearsals, performances, workshops, or events, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.
3. Medical Authorization
I authorize Mining City Dance Co. staff or representatives to obtain medical treatment for my child/ward or myself in the event of an emergency. I understand that I am financially responsible for all medical care provided.
4. Participant Health
I certify that my child/ward (or I, if participating) is physically fit and has no medical condition that would prevent safe participation in dance activities. I agree to notify the studio of any health concerns that may impact participation.
5. Photography and Videography Release
I understand that Mining City Dance Co. may photograph or record classes, performances, and events for promotional purposes. I grant permission for my child/ward’s or my likeness to be used in studio marketing materials, including but not limited to social media, websites, flyers, and advertisements, without compensation. Otherwise, notice needs to be brought to the studio owners right away.
6. Acknowledgment of Policies
I have read, understood, and agree to abide by the studio’s policies, including the General Policy and Payment Policy, as provided by Mining City Dance Co.
7. Indemnification
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mining City Dance Company, its staff, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from my or my child/ward’s participation in studio activities.
8. Acknowledgment
I have read this Release of Liability and fully understand its terms. I voluntarily agree to the terms and conditions stated above.
